Perfect teacher!

Work is going well. I’m still working long days, but things are continually making more sense. I’m now supervising 10 people, and what a great experience. They’re actually coming to me now with questions b/c I know stuff – which is amazing to me how much I know in less than 3 weeks of being here. My TSgt (E-6) is a GREAT teacher and I have learned sooo much from him. He’s the textbook example of what an enlisted mentor should be like: smart, candid, great teacher, and has an immeasurable amount of patience! Plus he adds some sarcasm and humor to the workplace that will be hard to replace when he leaves in a few months. Hopefully his replacement will be just as fun. I keep getting teased about being a 2Lt, and it’s great. I’m exceeding everyone’s standards just by showing up for work haha! Seriously, not much is expected of new Lt’s b/c we haven’t been in the military that long. I must say that Sea Cadets helped a lot. I’m glad that I did it b/c not only did I learn leadership, but I met Joe. So that makes it worth it in itself! I continue to meet other 1Lt’s though, and they’re leadership skills aren’t very impressive. Luckily my TSgt points out my flaws, smacks me upside the head, and helps me not to ever be like that. Well, hopefully… I miss everyone a lot, but this learning experience has just opened my eyes to so much and there is no way this experience could have been duplicated by staying in the States. So thank you all so much for your support in helping me continue to be over here and make a difference!
