Extra job

So tonight I found out that my office is losing one of our guys. That means that I get more stuff to do! For those of you who know me well, I thrive on being busy. Thus, I'm really looking forward to the challenge. Nothing like doing 2 O-3 jobs as an O-2:) Every day I find things that I like about this place and my job. More and more I see how the military is hurting over here for "bodies" as they like to put it. I see all the positive things that we're doing over here, but man it takes a lot of people to keep this place going! I really appreciate having all the civilians over here, even if they are paying more in taxes a year than what I make... On the bright side, I'm still their boss haha!

Today I was told by one of my prior enlisted guys that my boss needs "his LT" (me) to help keep him straight! I really appreciated the compliment b/c he's a prior E-8 who really knows a lot about the military and how things work. Never thought I'd be uh "needed" to say the least. Everyone here says that we're all replaceable. The only person I've seen so far leave that hasn't been replaceable was my friend Gerald. What a mentor he was, even though I was technically his boss. At least he's finally back home and able to enjoy the summer with his son (who happens to be my age). Where else besides the military is a 24 year old the boss of a 58 year old??? Ok, I'm sure it happens, but I'm still getting use to all this!
